Sales rose in Galveston Hot Buys even as listings fell
If you own a home in Galveston Hot Buys, here is the one thing worth knowing right now. Buyers are still closing deals, even as fewer homes are available to choose from. The Real Estate Data Aggregator counted 369 homes sold across ZIP codes 77554, 77551 and 77550 in the three months ending August 31, 2026. That is up 13.9% from the same months in 2025. At the same time, homes for sale fell 14.2% to 1,085. More sales. Less inventory. Buyers are still out there.
That picture looks different from the national one. Realtor.com reported active listings topped 1.16 million homes nationally in September 2026. Supply is rising across the country. In Galveston Hot Buys, it is going the other way. That gap matters when you are pricing a home or making an offer.
Rates are a real headwind, though. CNBC reported the average contract rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage climbed to 7.49% as of October 7, 2026. Realtor.com noted rates moved above 7% for the first time since January 2025. Higher rates slow buyers down. They do not stop them here, but they do change what buyers can spend.
What each ZIP code showed
The three ZIP codes inside Galveston Hot Buys each told a slightly different story in the three months ending August 31, 2026. Here is what the Real Estate Data Aggregator counted.

Pending sales jumped 30.5%. Months of supply dropped 5.2 months to 8.2. That is a lot of movement in one ZIP code.

ZIP 77550 saw 118 homes sold, up 14.6%, according to the Real Estate Data Aggregator. The median sale price dipped 1.8% to $333,750. The share of homes that went under contract within two weeks rose 4 points to 14.5%.
77554: most sales, but the slowest pace
ZIP 77554 had the highest count. The Real Estate Data Aggregator recorded 161 homes sold, up 3.2%. The median sale price was $595,000, down 5.9% from a year before. Homes took a median of 120 days to sell, 11 days longer than last year. Months of supply sat at 10.1. Homes for sale fell 11.8%. Sales rose, but this ZIP moves at its own pace.
Quick contracts: who moved fastest
One signal worth watching is the share of homes that went under contract within two weeks of listing. The Real Estate Data Aggregator tracked that for each ZIP in the three months ending August 31, 2026.
- 17755014.5%
- 27755114%
- 3775540.6%
ZIP 77554 is the outlier. Only 0.6% of its homes went under contract in the first two weeks, down 3.3 points from a year before. In 77550 and 77551, roughly 1 in 7 homes moved that fast. Same market. Very different speeds.
The broader backdrop
Nationally, Realtor.com reported that 20.8% of listings took a price cut in September 2026, the highest share since October 2022. The Federal Housing Finance Agency reported U.S. house prices rose 2.6% from July 2025 to July 2026, and 0.3% from the prior month in July, seasonally adjusted. Galveston Hot Buys is not immune to national pressure. But the local inventory drop and rising sales count say demand here is holding.
