What the national picture adds

The Federal Housing Finance Agency reported U.S. house prices rose 2.6% from July 2025 to July 2026. Month over month in July, they rose 0.3%, seasonally adjusted. Galveston Hot Buys prices moved in different directions by ZIP, as the scoreboard above shows.

Realtor.com reported mortgage rates topped 7% for the first time since January 2025. That affects buyers everywhere. It shapes how they write offers and how much they can spend.

Nationally, Realtor.com reported 20.8% of listings saw a price cut in September, the highest share since October 2022. In Galveston Hot Buys, the sale-to-list ratios held near 94% to 95% across all three ZIPs. Sellers here gave less ground than the national picture suggests.
